Donna Residence transforms an existing single-story ranch house through a comprehensive renovation that expands it into a 4,600 SF two-story residence. The massing is redefined through the addition of a second story, a first-floor rear extension, and dramatic roof overhangs. The new cladding emphasizes height and rhythm through the dynamic composition and spacing of vertical slats while the monochrome palette maintains a unifying effect.
A delicate, white stair ascends to the new second floor. A steel screen acts as both guardrail and partition— the vertical members echoing the cladding on the exterior of the home. The generous floor opening and expansive glazing creates an elegant, light-filled backdrop to the living room.
