Avalon Residence is a custom single-family home in Upper Arlington. The massing is broken up into discrete volumes that soften the expansive footprint. A central two-story volume anchors an array of one-story forms that extend out in all directions. A series of shed roofs reaching skyward establish a striking silhouette. Composite wood cladding in black and natural finish alongside limestone veneer further distinguish the arrangement of forms.
The interior combines a natural, bright palette with accent lighting and organic curves to create a home that is both elevated and inviting.
The central staircase of steel with floating oak treads evokes a sense of both elegance and strength. A custom-fabricated powder-coated steel screen divides the two runs and provides structure for the handrail. The transparency combined with the double-height window creates a vertical connection through the home that is flooded with filtered natural light.
