COhatch Dublin is a 10,000 SF building for coworking and offices with an interior courtyard connected to North High Brewing. Located in Dublin’s historic downtown, the design underwent multiple rounds of architectural review, resulting in a building that balances appropriate massing, scale, and materials while harmonizing with its context. Though three stories tall, the building’s articulation, material choices, and roof form reduce its perceived scale, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with neighboring structures while setting a contemporary yet contextual tone for downtown Dublin.
The lowest level is partially embedded in the slope, its walls recalling the stacked stone walls found along North Street. Above, the main and second floors—aligned with street level—are clad in stained vertical cedar siding, providing warmth and texture.
The building’s double-gabled roof, clad in standing seam metal, reflects the rhythm of the three bays in plan and draws inspiration from the area’s agricultural history, when livery barns were a familiar sight.
“The jury commends the team for working through what seems like a difficult approval process to produce a building that balances respecting historic character and contemporary expression.”
